The Hero’s Journey

We all love a great adventure story. The kind of story where a hero sets out on a quest that will change the course of their world. Along the way, the hero will likely face insurmountable odds and challenges. They’ll cross paths with friends and allies and encounter enemies at every turn. They’ll experience tragedy and triumph. Valleys and mountaintops. And at their lowest moment, the hero must ultimately face the darkness hiding within their own soul.

What makes the Hero’s Journey so universal and relatable is that it mirrors our journey through life. We all set out with great aspirations, but we inevitably run into delays, detours, and disappointments. Life has a way of knocking us down, and in those moments, you need the encouragement and the wisdom of a guide.

The Purpose of My Site

The purpose of this site is to empower you, the reader. To help you gain insight and encouragement, that will hopefully help you achieve your full potential. My approach isn’t characterized by the same ‘self-help’ advice you’re probably used to. I choose to look at things through the lens of faith. My intent is to slip into the role of a guide to offer an alternative point of view—one that happens to be grounded in the truth of God’s word. I’m not offering quick fixes or heavy theological commentaries. I merely seek to use my platform to help you experience more freedom. How you interpret or apply what I share on my site is really up to you. Like Morpheus so eloquently pointed out to Neo in The Matrix, “I can only show you the door. You’re the one that has to walk through it.”

My Use of Film

I’ve personally found that you don’t lose a thing walking through the door called faith. You actually gain more insight into the things you’re passionate about. For me, it was my love of film. As I’m sure you’ve gathered, I love quoting movies and using them to illustrate my points because I believe film offers a wealth of great stories and characters that we can all relate to. They’re also filled with compelling lessons that stay with us long after leaving the theatre or turning off the television. I believe the reason for that is because those lessons tend to line up with fundamental principles found in God’s word. My mission is to write and speak about those lessons and offer my readers the opportunity to experience the kind of freedom that helps them realize their full potential.

I hope you enjoy my site and the content I offer. I invite you to participate along the way and let me know what lessons are of help to you. I’ll do my best to respond to you personally. At the end of the day, I’m in this to see you succeed!

Cheers!
